FRENCH BRONZE GILT & PORCELAIN ANTIQUE MANTEL CLOCK BY JAPY FRERES
DESCRIPTION
A decorative French late 19th century bronze gilt antique mantel clock with superb quality case, beautifully chased and burnished throughout. The case has acanthus leaf mouldings, ribbon swag, beaded bezel, fluted detail to the sides and stands on toupie shaped feet. A porcelain urn adorns the top with fine floral garland, and there are inset porcelain panels of a landscape scene and floral panels which are delicately hand painted and surrounded by a pink border.
The clock had a white enamel dial with Roman numerals and it has a French eight day duration movement which strikes the hours and half hours on a bell.
The movement backplate is stamped with the makers name -
